Let’s see where this ‘statesman’ ends up
I can agree with Nigel Pike (Have Your Say, August 18) that Donald Trump is a statesman. As Adlai Stevenson once said, “A statesman is a guy who approaches every question with an open mouth.”
Trump is undoubtedly a wannabe revolutionary. As the psychologist Eric Fromm reminded us, “The successful revolutionary is a statesman, the unsuccessful one a criminal.”
Most of us “liberal fascists” – Nigel loves labelling theory, by the way – are putting our trust in the latter alternative.
