Projector rolls in homage to Nawapol

The Bangkok Screening Room will host a “Nawapol Retrospective” from September 15 to 24, showing all four feature films made by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit – in Thai with English subtitles.

They are “36”, “Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy”, “Freelance ... Ham Puay Ham Phak Ham Rak Mor” (“Heart Attack”) and the documentary “The Master”.
Winner of the New Currents award at the Busan International Film Festival in 2012 with his first feature,“36”, Nawapol is a visual artist and writer as well as a filmmaker.
After his initial independent films, he tried working within the studio system, directing “Freelance” for GTH, which was a success both at the box office and among the critics. The picture earned Bt85 million and swept eight of the 17 Subhanahognsa Awards for which it was nominated, including best film, director, actor, actress and supporting actress.
Nawapol is currently shooting “Die Tomorrow”.
Each of his four movies will be screened along with one of his short films, with this year’s “Scene 38” having its Thailand premiere.
Nawapol will be on hand for a Q&A at the September 17 showing of “36” at 4.15pm.
