Portugal on the big screen

Portugal on the big screen

Portugal brings its best short films to Thailand this month in a film festival being organised by the Embassy of Portugal and the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Bangkok in partnership with Arte Institute in New York and Siam Piwat.

The second edition of the festival will showcase 11 shorts by Portugal’s most promising filmmakers and will be shown at Room 5, Royal Paragon Hall on Siam Paragon’s fifth floor. Screenings start at 7pm on September 16 and continue the following day from 11am to 1pm and again from 3 to 6pm.
The Thailand edition is a sidebar to the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival (NYPSFF), which is now in its seventh year. Its aim is to show the work of the new generation of young Portuguese directors.
The short films were selected and submitted to a distinguished jury composed of American, Portuguese and Brazilian film experts including directors Ruuben Alves and Don Cato, and  Maarcio Miranda Perez  of the Sao Paulo International Short Festival.
“Carga” by Luis Campos, “The Wood Carver” by Joao Vasco, “The Fear Installation” by Ricardo Leite, “You” by Hugo Pinto and “Once Upon a Thread” by Patricia Figueiredo show on September 16.
