Perfect backpack for back-to-schoolers
The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts is ready to send your kids back to school with a great backpack designed by Margherita Maccapani Missoni. Its playful design was inspired by her family’s vacation in Portugal, where they stayed at the chain’s Pine Cliffs Hotel in Algarve.
The luxurious hotel occupies 170 seafront acres and provided ample ideas for a sunny, funny backpack.
This is Missoni’s second collaboration with the hospitality giant – the first came after to a trip to the property in Vienna with her son Otto.
“I’ve always loved to travel and I find that it’s a great way to connect as a family,” she says. “My husband and I can share our favourite destinations with our sons and discover new ones together.
“While it can definitely be more complicated to travel with children, I think it’s important for them to have a healthy sense of adventure, and I believe travelling is always possible if you just put some planning into action.
“With this in mind, I created a backpack to ensure that my young sons are always entertained while we’re on the go, with plenty of pockets for snacks and toys so they’re easily accessible.”
The backpack features a lively print of swimming fish traditionally associated with the Algarve region, in bright blue, orange and green. Traditional hand-painted tiles called azulejos were the inspiration for the patterns on the fish.
Made of an easy-to-wash polyester material, the bag is both durable and functional, with a top handle and adjustable padded shoulder straps in a deep pink.
The compartments include a transparent polyurethane front zip pocket for easy access to small toys and snacks and turquoise, stretchable-mesh side pockets for water bottles.
