Crowning our heroes

Crowning our heroes

The 21 most inspiring people and organisations from around Asia are being recognised in the “Heroes Awards” taking place on November 12 at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel.

This gala fundraising event will honour the work of HIV and LBGT community heroes from cross the region and will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Asia Pacific Community Service Awards.
Selected from more than 350 nominations, the awards are divided into seven categories – community hero, transgender hero, HIV hero, social justice, health & wellbeing, community ally, community organisation – and will raise much needed funds for APCOM’s vital work in relation to HIV education, prevention, treatment, care and support, and human rights.
“The judging panel noted that selecting the finalists was a difficult process because the achievements and contributions of all the nominees were remarkable in their own way,” says Midnight Poonkasetwattana, APCOM executive director.
“However, the judges agreed that the finalists they selected exhibited a truly outstanding commitment to advancing the health and rights of LGBT people and people affected by HIV, and they deserved to be recognised for their efforts. I congratulate the finalists and look forward to them and other members of our community coming together to honour and celebrate their achievements at the awards ceremony in Bangkok in November.”
