The rights of self-destruction

The rights of self-destruction

Man-made global warming lost credibility when the planet’s temperature was monitored by satellite over a period of two decades.

So global warming became climate change to cover all eventualities, enabling the self-righteous anti-CO2 brigade to prove that mankind was guilty whatever happened. Now it seems that CO2 has taken refuge in the sea, causing the oceans to become more acidic.
It is a scientifically established fact that the Earth’s climate has changed many times since its birth and long before the appearance of Homo sapiens. We live on a volatile ball of rock with a molten core that has been slowly cooling since it appeared in space. Its big boss is the all-powerful similarly volatile sun that controls all that happens on Earth. We little Earthlings have absolutely no influence over this relationship. We are its subjects and it completely decides our climate.
In the true sense of the word “create”, mankind is not capable of creating anything. All he is capable of doing is causing a change of state of that which already exists. Everything that is on this planet was here at its birth except for human beings. Early plant and then animal life was subject entirely to naturally evolving forces causing a constant state of change.
It is the human race alone, in its naive arrogance, that ignores natural disciplines. While we are an irrelevance in the context of climate change, pollution and population are two issues over which we do have some control.
It is people’s ignorance when meddling with the Earth’s chemistry that causes pollution of the environment. Technology, given time, will develop to allow us to thrive in sustainability together with all other animals and other forms of life. Unfortunately it is being hampered by the “needs” of out-of-control procreation. Migration from developing countries to developed countries only exacerbates the situation as it increases the birthrate where there is some control. Third World immigrants carry their problems with them: their cultures and ideologies. Medical and food aid from developed countries causes dust bowls from over-intensive farming in the donor countries and encourages unsustainable population growth in developing countries. It encourages dependency when responsible self-sufficiency should be the order of the day.
The increasing release of nature’s carbon dioxide, exacerbated by the decrease in trees and plant life to absorb it, is compounded by the activities of an exponentially increasing human population. In Africa the Sahel is moving ever rapidly southwards as forests are destroyed by people while in South America and Southeast Asia deforestation continues at an alarming rate. And all this destruction is being encouraged with aid from developed countries in the name of geopolitical “altruism”.
It’s time that all peoples of the world realise that with rights go responsibilities. The current irresponsible “rights” are the rights of the road to self-destruction.
