The strong case for representative governance

The strong case for representative governance

Once there was a house that was equipped with a circuit breaker. But, occasionally, it tripped without known reasons and some occupants were irritated.

Instead of trying to find out the root cause of the tripping, some boneheads wanted to get rid of the breaker. The brains, however, argued that being without it could cause electrical fire if there was a short circuit or power surge. They clashed, the boneheads won, naturally, and the breaker was yanked out. The victors were happy, crowing,”See? No more power disruptions.”
Then came one fateful night – dun dun dunn – a short circuit occurred, the wires overheated and the house was engulfed in flames.
The moral of the story is: circuit breakers, like representative governments, may cause some hindrance; but in the long run it’s better to have one.
