Great trees for charity

Great trees for charity

One of the most popular programmes of the festive season, the Christmas Tree Charity Project, is back for its 10th year at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and as ever showcases the creativity of a number of Thailand’s leading interior and fashion designers, architects, celebrities and lifestyle artists in decorating Christmas trees commissioned by select luxury partners.

. Celebrity artists who have paired with the charitable corporate sponsors include Duangrit Bunnag with Citibank NA, Vasu Virajsilp with Lampe Berger Paris, Araya “Art” Indra with Minor International, Ploenchan “Mook” Vinyaratn with KTC, Yu “Jordy” Fu with GrandWork Interior (Thailand) and Nakrob Moonmanas with Divana Spa. Other corporate sponsors with trees designed by their in-house artists are HSBC and Kanokkun.
Her Royal Highness Princess Somsavali presided over the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the hotel and received a warm welcome from William E Heinecke, chairman of Minor International, Thomas Meier, Minor Hotels senior vice president operations in Asia, and Mohammed Wazir, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel manager.
The Christmas trees are displayed around the open-air courtyard known as Parichart Court until January 6. Proceeds from the funds raised from the sponsors' donations will support the Friends in Need (of “PA”) Volunteers Foundation, Thai Red Cross Society.
The prize for best decorated Christmas tree, decided by a popular vote, was awarded to the Sonite Innovative Surfaces tree designed by Elizabeth Romhild on the concept “The Three Wise Men and the Star of Bethlehem”. Both the company and artists went home with a trophy presented by the Princess.
