Thai reaction shows EU was premature in lifting sanctions
I wish the EU had waited until the election is completed and the new government formed before easing its political sanctions on Thailand.
The egotistic junta now assumes that the EU has realised it was wrong about the sanctions and has redeemed itself by righting that wrong. I know how arrogant, self-serving and slick these guys are. And get this: our foreign affairs minister, according to AP, told reporters that “there will be more communication between Thailand and the EU ... which could be a good opportunity to explain why elections might have to be delayed if any incidents occur.” Hmm… “any incidents”? Like the drop of a feather?
I think the minister has just given us a hint that there will be no election next year, or perhaps any year, for that matter.
