The Five Commandments of Thai Immigration

The Five Commandments of Thai Immigration

Re: “Attitude adjustment needed for Immigration”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

Well there you have it. A letter-writer who goes on about restricting immigration to Europe and America and expects special treatment when he goes to an Immigration department in Thailand. Remember, no one asked you to come here. You have no right to live in Thailand.
Here are the rules concerning dealing with Immigration:
1. Find out before you go what documents are required and procedures to follow.
2. Switch to “super-jai yen yen” mode.
3. Be prepared to wait. Take a copy of The Nation and a good book to read.
4. Do as you are told.
5. Don’t talk back and never argue.
Thank God foreigners living in Thailand are no longer required to obtain a Tax Clearance certificate before they leave the country.
Talking of God. Here is Euler’s mathematical proof of his existence: e (pi*i) + 1 = 0.
