Atrocities and the ‘good guys’ theory of history

Atrocities and the ‘good guys’ theory of history

Re: “The biggest trolls are hiding in plain sight”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

I totally agree with Yingwai Suchaovanich that there are no “good guys” who rule the world. The greatest act of terrorism in history was dropping two atomic bombs on civilian targets in Japan. Some clowns claim that a million more people would have died in the war if Harry Truman hadn’t dropped the bombs. Yet the two leading American generals at the time, Dwight Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur, said there was absolutely no military justification for dropping the bombs. And don’t forget Truman deliberately hit civilian targets.
Then we have Vietnam where napalm and Agent Orange were used by the Americans.
Or what about the Iraq war fought under totally false premises and leading to the deaths of more than 100,000 people? As for Israel, I am convinced that there is literally no atrocity that they could commit that America and it’s cowardly lapdog Britain would not tolerate.
That of course would not justify Syria or Russia using chemical weapons. But we have to be careful not to let thugs like Donald Trump potentially start a war that could kill far more people. And we also should have learned from the Iraq war that just because America and Britain say something is true (in this case that Syria or Russia used chemical weapons) it doesn’t mean that it is.
