Britain used ‘divide and rule’ tactics in colonies
I read Al in Asia’s “Brits prepared their colonies to think for themselves (Have Your Say, May 6), and his claims of British merit for preventing those colonies from being Communist.
In the real world, Communist countries have achieved the fastest development in economic and technology in the past few decades. One missing point he dare not mention is that Britain prepared a “divide and rule” trap to make those colonies fight each other, for example, the Tamils and Sinhalese in Sri Lanka for several decades, India and Pakistan (until now), Rohingya in Myanmar (they should be located in Bangladesh), and the McMahon line the causes conflict between India and China.
Ransacking other countries to drain their resources to enrich your country is a crime. Don’t use your Narcissistic mind to claim you’re making a contribution. Shame on U(K).
