So what’s in the Vatican’s ‘secret’ Buddhist manuscript?

So what’s in the Vatican’s ‘secret’ Buddhist manuscript?

Re: “Vatican to exhibit Buddhist manuscript from Thailand,” Around Thailand, May 18.

We are told that the Culture Minister has presented “the sacred book of Buddhists” to Pope Francis, to be displayed at a world manuscripts exhibition in the Vatican Museum. Precisely which sacred book of the Buddhists is this? The Pali canon, the Tripitaka, is a vast collection of scriptures. All we know is that this one is written in ancient Khmer.
Tourists may be content to ooh and aah over an ancient manuscript that nobody can read. Some of us would like to know the name of the manuscript and what’s in it.
