Heartfelt thanks and chai-yo to all rescuers and supporters

Heartfelt thanks and chai-yo to all rescuers and supporters

Re: “Operation to rescue footballers a success but not over yet: governor”, National News, yesterday.

The huge sigh of relief was so loud it could be heard almost across the whole of Thailand when it was announced that the 12 teenage footballers and their coach had been found alive after spending nine nights trapped in the labyrinthine Tham Luang cave.
During the past 10 days, we Thais had held our breath over the fate of the missing children and their coach. Now, what a relief it is.
Experts and supporters from around the world deserve to be thanked by all Thais.
Exemplary Thais who sacrificed their time, expertise and efforts need to be recognised as well.
Chiang Rai Governor Narongsak Osothanakorn, who led the public relations team, has done an excellent job.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has shown exemplary leadership in keeping politics and the bureaucratic red tape to a minimum. Bravo to him for that.
The international rescue team numbering more than 1,000 people should be recognised for their hard work and dedication in saving the lives of people they don’t even know personally.
Even though there is much to do to bring the 13 young Thais out safe and sound, Thai people cannot wait to say “thank you” for what you have already done for us!
