Satit Srimontayamas, a doctor from Samitivej Hospital in Thonburi, is offering women health tips and has arranged free check-ups in the Event Hall at Central Chidlom.
“Wearing ill-fitted underwear can lead to health problems,” Dr Satit says, explaining that there are five common problems.
Muscle pain can in the shoulders, neck and back can result from wearing a tight bra, and possibly even headaches. A bra that’s too tight can also cause irritation and inflammation, symptoms that might also appear due to chemicals in detergents and fabric softeners used on bras and panties.
Fungal infection is common in the rainy season, and there’s a risk of breast cancer in wearing a bra that’s too tight. Tight or too-loose undergarments can affect posture and breathing.
“Pick underwear that fits you and make sure the bra straps aren’t too tight or too loose,” Satit says. “Always keep your underwear clean and dry to prevent infection caused by humidity. If you’re over 40, get your breasts checked for cancer every year to minimise risk.”
