A brave stand against sexism, or just a bad loser?
Serena Williams’ tantrum during the US Open final on Saturday is not the first time she has spat the dummy.
She has done this twice before – each time while she was losing. So what does that tell you?
People are now condemning cartoonist Mark Knight for his “racist” portrait of Williams. The charge of racism is nonsense. Knight was merely caricaturing her brat-like behaviour when she could not get her way. And as for Williams’ claim she was speaking up for women’s rights, what a load of codswallop! Tennis fans might recall the match in 2014 where she threatened to take a ball and shove it down a lineswoman’s throat. Williams seems ready to dish it out but not to take it. And only keen to scream sexism or racism when it suits her game.
