Inspiration to save our oceans

The “Bangkok Ocean in Motion Film Festival 2018” gets underway today at the Hilton Phuket before moving up to Bangkok’s Chang Chui at the weekend.

 Viewers can enjoy a wide diversity feature films, animations, documentaries and short films (with Thai subtitles) which portray the consequences of global warming, plastic pollution and water.
The list of short films includes “Fragile” that talks about the adventure of a small turtle; “One Shot” that’s inspired by surfer and award-winning ocean and lifestyle photographer Russel Ord; and “Penguin Protectors” that looks at the decline in penguin populations decline as a result of warming. The unprecedented pictures of the ocean ecosystem, the diverse culture relating to the sea, and the advanced technology that will tackle waste crisis will hopefully spark inspiration to save the ocean.
The Bangkok Ocean in Motion Film Festival 2018 is organised by Ocean Recovery Alliance – an NGO based in Hong Kong and California with the aim to use new technologies, innovations, creativity and collaborations to build an awareness on saving and develop the ocean sustainably. You’ll find it at OceanRecov.org. 
Apart from learning from the touching stories at the festival, the audience will get a chance to discuss with Douglas Woodring, a co-founder and managing director of Ocean Recovery Alliance. Hip music by world-renowned DJ Celeste Siam, two-time winner of the Top Asia Corporation’s Asia Top Female DJ Awards 2014 and 2017, will also be featured. The festival kicks off today (December 12) at The Hilton Phuket Hotel at 7pm then travels to Cafe del Mar, Phuket tomorrow at the time before coming back to the Hilton on December 15 at 7pm.In Bangkok, the festival will be held on Friday and Saturday at Doojit Space, Chang Chui at 7pm.
