Retailers get all mousy for Mickey’s birthday

Retailers get all mousy for Mickey’s birthday

For 90 years, Mickey Mouse has resided in the hearts of fans around the globe – ever since his big-screen debut on November 18, 1928, in “Steamboat Willie”.

To celebrate the occasion, the Walt Disney Thailand has unveiled “The ESP Mickey Mouse Collection”, including clothing, shoes, caps and scarves created by the design firm ESP.
Pictures of Mickey and his cartoon friends are prominent in the streetwear-style gear, along with other fun graphics.
Lacoste has meanwhile decorated some of its apparel, sneakers and leather goods with more than 30 retro graphic designs of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, celebrating Mr Mouse’s status as the “True Original”, who is loved all over the world. Lacoste is still a kid compared to Mickey, but this also happens to be its 85th anniversary.
And fashion brand Cath Kidston is again collaborating with Disney for another collection dedicated to Mickey and other favourite Disney characters.
Then there are Brazilian sandals brand Havaianas, which has put Steamboat Willie on its flip-flops, and Pandora, which features Mickey on its charm bracelets in signature materials like Sterling Silver and Pandora Rose.
For the home, Fountain offers bedding of soft and lightweight micro-fibre fabric that’s designed to invoke sweet Mickey Mouse dreams. Find it at leading department stores everywhere.
Mickey and Minnie both feature on cakes or cookies sold at S&P. Buy Bt1,000 worth of treats and you get a foldable, limited-edition Disney bag valued at Bt490.
Pick up a bottle of Aquani water and there he is again, in three collectible bottle designs available until January 31 at Jiffy stores, Tops Supermarket, The Mall, Max Mart and Villa Market.
Make Mickey part of your beauty routine with U Star’s new line of cute cosmetics, the “Mickey the True Original” collection, including liquid and matte lipsticks, eyeliners and shine-control powders. They’re sold only at King Power Rangnam.
Varinda has a facemask in lovely Mickey Mouse designs. The black sheet contains charcoal to draw out impurities and ensure deep cleansing. That’s at Watsons for Bt59, complete with a “buy one, get one free” promotion.
