The bad news and the good

The bad news and the good

Let’s see. US Secretary of Defence James Mattis has resigned, meaning that the Last Man Standing isn’t standing anymore.

This completes the removal of the quadrumvirate of adults (McMaster, Tillerson, Kelly, Mattis) who once stood as a firewall protecting the US and the world from the tantrums of Toddler Trump.
The US stock market has tanked. The US is pulling all troops out of Syria and Afghanistan, leaving those unhappy lands to the mercies of “Bad Vlad” Putin, the Assad regime, ISIS, and the Taleban (in the case of Afghanistan). The US government has shut down, making us wonder why we needed it in the first place, except to pay the legions of government workers, postal workers, soldiers, sailors, airmen, and social security recipients, who are likely to have a very unmerry Christmas indeed.
This cornucopia of catastrophes suggests that the Apocalypse is at hand.
But hold! Jesus is coming! The Bible says so.  Admittedly, we’ve been waiting over 2,000 years, but, hey, good things are worth waiting for, and God has always been a little slow. Jesus had better come soon, or there won’t be anything left to come to.
And there is good news on the Kali Yuga front. We are about to enter year 2151 of the Age of Darkness. This gives us only 426,879 years of misery to go before the dawn of the Satya Yuga, the golden Age of Truth, when everybody will tell the truth, everything will turn hunky-dory, and every turd will morph into a rose petal.
So y’all have a raht fahn holiday season, regardless of your faith or lack thereof. That includes A Bangkok Atheist.
In a Christmas-season mood,
Ye Olde Theologian
