Immigration officials are kowtowing to dictatorships
Wouldn’t it be nice if Thai Immigration personnel took an unbiased, neutral stance to travellers?
Recent accounts of their behaviour shows them to be pro-officialdom and in opposition to human rights and sympathetic decency, a stance made plain recently by their behaviour towards the refugee Bahraini footballer and the Saudi woman fleeing her violent oppressors. It can’t be easy to make the same poor decisions regularly and still feel you are doing a good job. Perhaps they need a course in proper Buddhism.
