Slaughtering animals is also killing our planet
Dr Frank enjoys belittling people with words like “fiction and falsehoods”. If he were right, I would not bother to reply, but I know most people want something better.
Any animal slaughter is horrific. They tremble in fear, as they know by the cries of their fellow species and the smell of death around them that they are about to be killed. Stunning may paralyse and immobilise them, but the questions we can’t answer are “Can they feel pain?” and “Does it actually render them unconscious?” We know for a fact that all mammals feel pain.
Cattle take longer than sheep to lose consciousness because they have an extra blood supply to the brain at the back of their necks. In halal slaughter, the spinal cord must be intact. No stunning is allowed. So you can stop insisting that I write about halal slaughter and stop making inexcusably absurd references to people who care about life on our fragile planet.
