HM Rama IX had a firm stance on double standards

HM Rama IX had a firm stance on double standards

His Majesty King Rama IX was a distinguished competitor at a Royal Varuna Yacht Club race in which a good friend of mine was a judge.

HM violated a racing rule, and my friend promptly called him out on it. HM not only graciously accepted the penalty, but told my friend, “You were right and I was wrong.” HM followed the rules without fear or seeking favour – no double standards.
Fast forward to the present. Last year, the Constitutional Court held that Foreign Minister Don’s shares were transferred upon the signing of relevant documents, without needing registration with the Commerce Ministry – even in judging qualifications of politicians.
Thus, it seems to me that Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit’s media company shares were transferred on the date of signing, no Commerce Ministry registration required. If so, he should be acquitted and allowed to carry out his duties of office – just as FM Don was.
We should follow in our beloved national father’s footsteps, and not have double standards.
