‘Tommy Robinson’ rejected as Britons sniff out bad egg

‘Tommy Robinson’ rejected as Britons sniff out bad egg

The convicted criminal, thug and rabble rouser Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka “Tommy Robinson”) is sometimes portrayed in Have Your Say as a hero, campaigning on behalf of Britain’s white working class against the iniquities of a politically correct establishment.

Well, in last week’s European election, Yaxley-Lennon’s party Ukip gained a miserable 3 per cent of votes throughout the UK, and Yaxley-Lennon fared even worse, getting only 2.2 per cent of the votes cast in his constituency. By contrast, Nigel Farage’s Brexit party, formed only a few weeks ago, and which also seeks to challenge the political elite, achieved an astonishing result, winning with a total of 31.6 per cent of votes and getting 29 seats in the European Parliament, way ahead of its nearest rival the Liberal Democrats, with 20.3 per cent of votes and 16 seats.
Britain may be going through a period of political turbulence, but its electorate is well able to distinguish between the genuine article and an impostor and thoroughly “bad egg”.
