Dazzling light and sound spectacular’ for festive season

Property developer Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) jointly announced on Tuesday (December 3) that they are organising the year-end “Beautiful Bangkok 2020: A Blossom of Happiness” event.

The dazzling light and sound spectacular will turn the landmark Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard tower into a stunning attraction, lighting up Bangkok’s skyline during the holiday season, culminating with a New Year countdown, they added.
Beautiful Bangkok 2020 will premiere on December 16 from 6pm to 9pm. The show will continue through to the New Year countdown on December 31. Activities in front of Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard are open to the public from December 17-31 between 6pm and 11pm.
“Beautiful Bangkok 2020 is designed to spread happiness and goodwill to all and to strengthen the tourism industry of Bangkok and Thailand,” said Visit Malaisirirat, CEO of Magnolia Quality Development. “We are investing heavily to make this year’s edition even bigger and more spectacular than ever and are also creating ‘The Wonder Flower Land’ on the square in front of Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard.
“Advanced AI technology and a highly creative team from Japan have enabled us to design and execute a sensational light and sound show. We will project images onto Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, which is a 60-floor super-luxury residential complex and a Ratchaprasong landmark with a distinctive design inspired by magnolia petals,” he added.
The event’s highlights include an interactive feature to personalise the light show to the heartbeats of individual spectators.
Magnolias said it has organised a free shuttle service running along Ratchadamri, Rama IV and Siam Square for the public throughout the festive season.
A photography contest will also seek out the best images, with the overall winner receiving a Leica camera. Other prizewinners will have their images reproduced by TAT on postcards to promote tourism. The winning photos will be chosen by TAT and Magnolias for their composition, beauty, energy, and creativity.
“Ratchaparasong Square is an important tourism and commercial district visited daily by more than 600,000 people, rising to 900,000 during the high season,” said RSTA president Chai Srivikorn. “The previous two editions of Beautiful Bangkok were major magnets for Thai and foreign visitors. Business owners in the area have prepared a wide range of activities this year in a joint effort to delight and entertain everyone, reinforcing Ratchaprasong’s status as [one of] the region’s top shopping and lifestyle destinations.”
