Severe flooding hits six Yala districts following heavy rains

Floods have wreaked havoc across the southern Thailand province of Yala, with six districts facing severe damage.

Continuous rains for four days in Betong have caused landslides, road subsidence and two house collapses.

In Tha Sap and Na Tham subdistricts, 11 villages are submerged under 1-2 metres of water, cutting them off entirely. Rescue efforts rely solely on motorboats.

Governor Amphon Phongsuwan is leading relief operations, prioritising evacuations to safety zones. Government agencies, private organisations, and military units have deployed boats and personnel to assist stranded residents.

Temporary kitchens are providing 30,000 cooked meals daily to aid affected communities.

The hardest-hit areas include Muang Yala, Raman and Yaha districts where rivers have overflowed.
