FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025

Bangkok’s Chinatown has lit up for Chinese New Year under the theme “Ignite Your Senses Embrace Our Two Cultures”, as Thailand braces for an influx of tourists over the next two weeks.
.
Yaowarat Road dazzled in gold and red as festive decorations were switched on to herald the busiest two weeks in the kingdom’s tourism calendar. The decorations feature a variety of lanterns, flowers and street art.
.
Visitors celebrated the auspicious festivals wearing red attire. Some even cosplayed as characters from Chinese films and series, such as Justice Bao.
.
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Wu Zhiwu, deputy chief of mission at the Chinese embassy, presided over the lighting-up ceremony at the Odeon Circle on January 19, which also marked 50 years of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.
.
The light show will illuminate Yaowarat Road from 6pm to midnight until February 9.
