Lost in DOMLAND, a solo exhibition by Udom Taephanich – one of Thailand’s most celebrated stand-up comedians – invites visitors on a deeply introspective journey that captures the chaos of childhood and the silence of adulthood. Through colour, texture, and whimsical imagination, it bridges generations with vibrant energy.
.
The journey begins with Nadom, a towering 6-metre sculpture surrounded by balloons, evoking childhood nostalgia. Visitors are then drawn into the Sketch Room, a space filled with raw, unfiltered drawings tracing the evolution of Udom’s inner world. The Monster on a Conveyor, a mesmerising series of steel sculptures, rolls by slowly like fleeting emotions.
.
A highlight of the exhibition is the Fibre Doll Room, where grotesque yet oddly endearing characters from Deaw 13 take centre stage. This is paired with the Monster Show, featuring rotating bronze sculptures exploring emotional expression. In the Kaleidoscope Room, Udom’s long-time self-portrait, Dom Dog, makes a colourful return.
.
Nearby, The God of Letting Go – a 3-metre-tall banana-headed figure – asks, “Will you make life complicated, or allow it to be simple?” A 20-minute documentary by writer Sarawut Hengsawad offers an intimate look at Udom’s creative process. Visitors can walk barefoot across the Pink Carpet Room, designed to awaken tactile senses. The experience concludes with a striking 4 x 9 metre canvas where Udom plays freely, embodying healing through creativity.
.
