China's famous Yuyuan Lantern Festival is being showcased in Thailand for the first time, offering locals and visitors a chance to experience the enchanting beauty of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
.
"The Spirit of Mountains and Seas. Yuyuan Lantern Festival and 2025 China–Thailand Culture Month" is being held daily at ICONSIAM, Bangkok, from now until August 15, between 4 pm and 10 pm. The event marks the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.
.
With a history of over 100 years, the Yuyuan Lantern Festival is officially recognised as a key element of China's intangible cultural heritage.
.
This year’s theme, Spirit of Mountains and Seas, draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas) and fuses it with the concept of “The Islands of Chao Phraya.”
.
The lanterns combine light, shadow, and interactive technology, alongside a vibrant program of cultural activities including traditional performances, a local goods market, themed cultural weeks, and art and light exhibitions.
.
The event is open to the public free of charge, except for the special exhibition zone, which requires an admission ticket priced at 200 Baht.
