Judgement day looms for Prayut | The Nation

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2022

On August 17, Opposition MPs had submitted a petition to House Speaker Chuan Leekpai to forward to the Constitutional Court for a ruling on whether Prayut’s eight-year term as PM would end on August 24, as per Constitution Article 158.

The 2017 Constitution stipulates that an individual cannot serve as prime minister for more than eight years. Prayut had become prime minister on August 24, 2014 after leading a coup to topple the Yingluck Shinawatra government.
