Chills and fears as “The Mummy” returns

Chills and fears as “The Mummy” returns

Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and director Alex Kurtzman were all in Taiwan last week to attend the premiere of “The Mummy” at Miramar Da-Zhi Theatre in Taipei.

Cruise and fellow cast members received a warm welcome from Taiwanese fans on the red carpet and were happy to sign autographs and pose for selfies.
“The Mummy is the first in Universal Pictures series of films reviving the studio’s classic monster characters for a new generation on the theme “Dark Universe.”
Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilisation.
Thought safely entombed deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “Star Trek Beyond”) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, “The Mummy” brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Cruise is joined by a cast that includes Annabelle Wallis (“King Arthur”), Jake Johnson (“Jurassic World”), Courtney B Vance (TV’s “American Crime Story: The People Vs OJ Simpson”), Marwan Kenzari (“The Promise”) and Oscar winner Russell Crowe.
The Mummy will be released in Thailand on June 8.
