INVASION OF THE 12TH PLANET

INVASION OF THE 12TH PLANET

Ease your 'Curiosity', get it out of your solar system - the celebrated American DJ is here

Who says Americans don’t know how to dubstep? The States’ very first “king of dubstep”, 12th Planet, is finally coming to Bangkok next week for one night of subsonic frequencies at Bed Supperclub.
John Dadzie was actually born on our planet, in Los Angeles. He was introduced to the electronic music scene in high school.
After forming Imperial Recordings with DJ Lith, he launched his production skills on his own terms, originally producing drum and bass under the alias Infiltrata.
Dadzie started over from scratch. After seven years touring the world as a drum-and-bass maestro, winning over icons such as Goldie and Photek, Dadzie gave himself a new name, a new sound, and a new determination.
It was 2005 and the beatmaker was inspired by sounds he heard spun by the likes Technical Itch, Skream and Benga. It was dubstep. And it was his calling.
Taking the moniker 12th Planet in reference to Zecharia Sitchin’s book, “12th Planet”, his story really begins in 2006.
The British dubstep movement took hold in LA thanks to 12th Planet and the events he aligns himself with – Smog, Media Contender, Hard, and his own club night Dubtroit.
Like the mythological 12th planet, our 12th Planet flies perpendicular to the system. His wicked beats are off axis. His subsonic frequencies surround you in their own orbit. America’s first king of dubstep is ready for impact.
All production under the name 12th Planet is original. As one of the first individuals to bring the dubstep culture to America, where Los Angeles has subsequently become the country’s dubstep mecca. 12th Planet works frequently with Orange County producer Flinch and LA-based DJ Skrillex on “Father Said”, “Needed Change” And “Burst”. He has also done collaborations with various dubstep producers including Datsik, Doctor P, Plastician, and Skream. Many well-known dubstep DJs such as Rusko, Skream and more.
As a DJ, 12th Planet has toured in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and across the US. He has also played at many American dance festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Together As One, SXSW, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Ultra Music Festival, Nocturnal, and Beyond Wonderland.
In 2009, 12th Planet was listed as one of URB.com’s “Next 100”, and had a special feature in their 25 “Now!” supplemental issue. 2010 marked the release of his music video for “Reasons”, presented by Scion A/V, which was premiered and cycled on MTV 2. Diplo’s label Mad Decent included 12th Planet’s remix of Little Jinder’s “Youth Blood” on their dubstep compilation “Blow Your Head”, released in November.
His current tour of clubs in Asia includes Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing and Malaysia. After Bangkok, he’ll venture on to Hong Kong then back to the US.
His show in Bangkok is supported by the Superzaaap Crew.
