Nation U master's programme

Nation U master's programme

Nation University has joined forces with the Nation Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to launch a Master of Communication Arts Programme in New Media Management (NMM).

Students can learn from 10 case studies in the real “new media” world and be taught by professionals from all fields – TV, new media, press, entertainment and advertising - including CTH boss Wichai Thongtang and online entrepreneur Pawoot Pongvitayapanu. Although this two-year weekend programme, to be launched late August at the Lampang campus, students can also study at its Bang Na Campus or study and review lessons anywhere online via the “I-Classroom”.
Communication Arts Faculty dean Chakkrish Prempool said new media management, which combined communication arts theory with professional practice from new media management experts, was the country’s first of its kind. It used real case studies for master’s degree students to learn management skills to survive and grow amid the quick changes in the new media era.
“This programme is a response to many requests from those in the media and advertising circle who wanted Nation University to develop a master’s programme that meets the challenges of the new-media world because they had started to fall behind the quick changes and saw the need of going back to the classroom,” he said.
This programme would also serve as a further step for some 300 Communication Arts bachelor students, which the university recruited this year. The faculty currently has 500 students.
NBC president Adisak Limprungpatanakij said NMM was also designed for convenient study in classes at Lampang or Bang Na. It included a field trip to Bangkok, after a short study in Lampang, to learn from successful executives in the media-entertainment businesses. NBC and Nation University have also developed 10 case studies, including the Thai TV industry’s major change in the past 50 years – the ongoing transition from analog TV to digital TV.
People can learn more at www.nation.ac.th or call the Lampang Campus at 054-265-170-6 ext 152, Bang Na Campus at 0-2338-3755 or 08-1915-2566. Students at Lampang can study in Bangkok and learn about case studies for 40 per cent of class time. Tuition fees include a field trip to Bangkok and accommodation.
