Flight mishap on Hat Yai runway
FLIGHTS were delayed more than three hours at Hat Yai International Airport yesterday after a Lion Airlines plane got stuck when a section of the runway gave out.
Lion Airlines flight SL8531 to Bangkok was preparing to take off at the time of the 10am incident. None of the 186 passengers or the crew were injured.
Airport director Jessada Phetchmedyai said the passengers and crewmembers were taken off the plane to lessen the weight and allow machines to pull it free, a task that took three and a half hours.
