The Criminal Court yesterday sentenced 38-year-old Laos national Weerapan Inthawong - known in social media as the "Siam Mafia" thug - to one year, two months and 15 days in prison.
The sentence was further reduced to 14 months due to his useful confession. The sentence combined penalties related to charges of illegal entry into Thailand, assault and insults aimed at two individuals in two separate incidents and the theft of another woman’s valuables.
Weerapan was arrested at the Sutthisan metro station on Tuesday, after camera footage of him allegedly attacking a woman on a Bangkok subway went viral.
