Commemorating World AIDS Day

Activists marched through Pattaya resort town to raise awareness on the World Aids Day which is held worldwide today.

The day marks an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.
More than 400,000 people are living with HIV in Thailand at present. Globally, it is estimated 34 million people have the virus.
According to UNAIDS, New HIV infections have been reduced by 35 per cent since 2000 and AIDS-related deaths have been reduced by 42 per cent since the peak in 2004.
