Briton, 75, and Thai wife |rescued after yacht sinks

A 75-year-old British tourist and his Thai wife were rescued in the Gulf of Thailand late on Thursday night.

The First Naval Area Command dispatched a boat to a spot near Koh Ira off Toey Ngam Beach in Marine Bay, Sattahip district, just after midnight after Sri Racha Marine Traffic Centre said a yacht had sunk in the area.
The naval rescuers found Lamon Luggman and Ubolrat Nikornpol, 49, on a rubber raft.
Ubolrat said they left the Ocean Marina in Pattaya at about 10am and were heading for Koh Samet but when it got dark her husband lost his sense of direction and the boat hit a rock and sank.
