Engineer to surrender to police after Skytrain fatal accident

The engineer who supervised the Red Line Skytrain construction site in Bangkok where three workers were killed, will surrender to police on Tuesday, deputy national police spokesman Pol Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen said on Monday.

Rattakorn Jitsripitaklert, 40, has contacted police and told them that he would present himself at 10am to hear the charge of negligence leading to the fatal accident, he said.
Police are still investigating to determine if others were responsible for the accident and continuing to inspect the scene to prepare a report to submit to court, Krissana said.
He said that, if necessary, executive of Italian-Thai Development PCL might be summoned to provide information.
On Sunday afternoon, Metropolitan police chief Pol Lt-General Sanit Mahathavorn said arrest warrants for three suspects had been issued, including Rattakorn, crane controller Pornchai Buaprathumma, 37, and assistant engineer Boonseub Phankham, 48.
Pornchai and Boonseub had already been arrested and interrogated, before being released on bail, Sanit said.
All three suspects are accused of negligence leading to the accident that killed three workers on April 28 on Kham Phaeng Phetch 6 Road near Wat Don Muang School.
