A video clip is being circulated by Myanmar Facebook users that appears to show a Thai cop taking a bribe from a Myanmar immigrant worker while searching a bus in Tak province.

The clip shows the uniformed officer checking the papers of immigrant workers heading from the Mae Sot border to work in Bangkok after Songkran.

A worker slips several Bt100 banknotes to the officer, who then continued to check the papers of other workers as if nothing had happened.

It was published on the Facebook page of the Labour Hittai community organisation.

In an accompanying caption, the organisation said: "When a Myanmar migrant, whose work permit expired, meets with hungry Thai cops."

It said it was one of the many cases of corruption and bribery.

The organisation said Myanmar labour advocates had asked Thai authorities to probe the incident and the organisation would closely follow the case.
