Malaysian police: Be careful when travelling in southern Thailand

Kelantan police have advised Malaysians travelling to Thailand to be more careful since the southern province of the country is still in turmoil.

State police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said, however, they were not prohibited to travel to Thailand.

"We do not want any unwanted incidents like that of a Kelantanese who was fatally hit by a stray bullet in Takbai two days ago.

Hasanuddin was commenting on the incident in which Wan Mohd Zain W. Hussain, 46, from Kampung Ketil, Tumpat, was fatally shot by a stray bullet from a group of armed individuals at a checkpoint in Kampung Cek He, Takbai.

During the 9.30pm (Thailand time) incident, the victim who was riding pillion on a motorcycle was passing  through the checkpoint when the group fired at policemen and one of the bullets fatally hit him.
