Police prepare six helicopters to fly ill mourners

The Royal Thai Police will prepare six helicopters to take mourners to hospital if they need urgent medical treatment while travelling to or attending the Royal Cremation later this month, the police spokesman said on Wednesday.

Pol General Weerachai Songmetta, deputy police commissioner general and police spokesman, said this was one of the police measures to support the mourners who will travel to Bangkok for the ceremonies.
The Royal Thai Police has also released its Zon app that updates the traffic situation in Bangkok in real time.
Pol Lt-General Dr Withoon Nitiwarangkul, surgeon general of the Police Hospital, said his hospital will increase by 700 the number of medical personnel available to take care of mourners during the ceremonies.
Teams of doctors from the Police Hospital would work in cooperation with the emergency helicopter crews, he added.
He said the Police Hospital has been dispatching teams of medical personnel to take care of mourners at Sanam Luang over the past year. Since October 14, 2016, they have taken care of some 113,000 mourners.
