Eat lots of chilli paste, 111-year-old granny tells Krabi governor

Pliew Phetpuang – at age 111 the oldest woman in Krabi – got a visit from the province’s governor on Tuesday and showed him she’s still strong and has her wits about her.

“Grandma Pliew” told ML Kitibodi Prawit at her house in Moo 4 village, Plaiphraya district, that she eats lots of vegetables with nam phrik (chilli paste), but rarely touches meat.
She said she never sits idly, preferring to keep active so she gets her exercise.
Kitti Intharakul, a social-development officer with the province, said Grandma Pliew was born in 1907 and had been verified as Krabi’s longest-living resident.
He said Pliew remains healthy and strong, has good hearing and eyesight, and communicates easily with others. She walks without needing a cane.
Kitti credited her children and grandchildren for taking good care of her.
