Premchai adviser speaks to police

An adviser to president of Italian-Thai Development company facing poaching-related charges met Kanchanaburi police on Monday, instead of Thursday or Friday as expected, apparently to dodge an army of media.

Noppadon Prueksawan, a retired senior national park official, was summonsed to meet police because he reportedly contacted wildlife officials to seek permission for Premchai Karnasuta to visit Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary for “nature studies”.
However, Premchai and his entourage stand accused of hunting after forest rangers found remains of protected animals and rifles at their campsite.
Noppadon at first told police that he would meet them either on Thursday or Friday.
A source said that the meeting lasted five hours, during which he confirmed he was an adviser to the listed company. He said Premchai asked him to seek permission for the trip, so he phoned Wildlife Conservation Bureau director Kanjana Nittaya.
