A team of police officers and officials from the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department’s “Wild Hawk” task force seized 21 wild animals - many of which were albino - from a company in Bangkok on Thursday.

They were estimated to be worth Bt169,000.

Wild Hawk leader Thiradech Palasuwan led the team to search Food and Cosmetics System Co Ltd in Sukhumvit Soi 68 following a tip-off that the company held many wild animals.

The officers searched the premises run by manager Surachai Suthisarn, 33. They found two albino crab-eating macaques, one albino crow, one porcupine, two albino Asian koels, two albino mynas, five red-whiskered bulbuls and eight turtles - for which Surachai could not produce documents. The police said they charged the man for having protected wildlife without permission.
