Engine problem forces Qantas jet back to Bangkok
Sydney - A Sydney-bound Qantas Airways Boeing 747 returned to Bangkok after the pilot shut down one engine following what the Australian carrier described as a "bang."
Sunday's Q52 flight, which had 356 passengers aboard, landed safely in Bangkok about an hour after take-off, a Qantas spokesman said Monday.
"About one hour after take-off, there was a bang and some vibrations were felt through the aircraft," he said.
Shutting down the engine was a precautionary measure and there was no requirement for an emergency landing.//DPA
