Budding Thai Edisons shine in South Korea

Inventions by Thai vocational students bagged three silver and two bronze medals at an international competition in South Korea early this month.

All five Thai teams scored prizes at the Seoul International Invention Fair, Chaipreuk Sereerak, secretarygeneral of the Vocational Education Commission, said recently.
Exercise Equipment, Adjustable Seat and Foot Support by Detudom Technical College, Utility Chair by Samutsakhon Technical College and Necktie Bags by Siphraya Polytechnic College won silver medals.
The bronze medals went to the Portable Stove of Hat Yai Technical College and Preserved Fruit Machine of Phitsanulok Vocational College. 
Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Valayalaksana met the students to see their inventions showcased at the fair, which was held by the Korea Invention Promotion Association.
The Vocational Education Commission and the National Research Council have worked together to promote vocational teachers and students to become researchers. They have provided them training and funded them to practise doing research and create inventions since 2009.
