Fireworksmaker charged after blast

Following an explosion late Thursday night at a fireworksmaker's home in Lamphun's Muang district, police yesterday filed charges of recklessness causing property damage, and of possessing explosives and making fireworks without permission, against Jamnia

No one was injured in the explosion, which could be felt within a 910km radius, damaged Jamnian’s home and shattered windows and damaged roofs in 16 surrounding houses. Sympathetic neighbours set up a donation booth to collect money, clothes and commodity goods for Jamnian, who was released on bail yesterday. Jamnian said he made a living making fireworks for events and had placed 10 of them in storage for delivery to a customer yesterday(April 6) before going to bed, but a little before midnight Thursday the fireworks exploded.
