Relief for power, water and food bills

Relief for power, water and food bills

The Interior Ministry and five state enterprises will allow customers to apply for a postponement of their power and tap water bills to help reduce living costs during their children's new school term opening period.

The Market Organisation for Farmers will also distribute cheap goods in its five outlets.
Secretary to the Interior Ministry, Padung Limjaroenrat said the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) will allow electricity users to delay payment of their electricity bills for May until the end of June.
Power users can pay their electricity bills in installments from May until July.
To apply for these benefits, users must submit their bills and an identity card copy to MEA in their own district from today to June 15; and for PEA to May 31.
The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) and Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) will also extend bill payments for May until July. Interested users should contact the MWA office in their district by June 30.
MWA governor Charoen Phassara also announced a discount on the tap water system installation price (for a 0.5 inch water meter) from Bt5,000 to Bt4,500 for a new domestic user. The agency will also install 100 coin water dispensers, which sell five litres of drinking water for Bt1, across Bangkok and nearby areas this year.
Market Organisation chief Teetath Sooksaad said the group would also distribute cheap goods such as Bt3 for a lime and Bt3 per egg in its five markets (Bangkok’s Pak Khlong Talad, Lop Buri’s Nong Muang, Lamphaun, Bangkok’s Taling Chan and Chachoengsao’s Bangkhla branches) as well as at MWA, PWA, MEA and PEA offices.
