University prep programme kicks off

University prep programme kicks off

Tens of thousands of students across the nation are joining a tutoring programme to prepare for university admissions at four universities in the country's major regions.

Saha Pathanapibul and Nation Multimedia Group, along with Mama, kicked off the event offering tutorial courses to prepare for university examinations, yesterday.
The tutorial sessions began yesterday at the four universities and they will run until Thursday. They are Bangkok University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in the Central region, Chiang Mai University in the North, Khon Kaen University in the Northeast and Prince of Songkla University in the South.
Some 30 popular tutors will take turns to coach the participants in all the subjects of the Ordinary National Educational Test, General Aptitude Test and Professional Aptitude Test at the four venues. About 60,000 students registered for the tutorial courses at these universities.
In addition, the tutorial courses at UTCC have been broadcast via broadband to 542 schools in 77 provinces, to reach out to more students. In all, about 140,000 students have been tutored, according to Vathit Chokwatana, director of Saha Pathanapibul.
Nation Broadcasting Corporation president Adisak Limprungpatanakij said the number of schools that have received the broadcast increased from 300 last year to 542 this year.
He said that apart from tutoring the subjects for the tests whose scores are used for university central admissions, the tutorial project this year also provided other tutorial courses focusing on the tests for university direct admissions. The first two venues were Udon Thani and Phitsanulok in September. Three more venues would be added in October – in Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Ratchasima and Surat Thani.
