NACC decides Sudarat not wrong in ordering cancellation of computer bidding project

NACC decides Sudarat not wrong in ordering cancellation of computer bidding project

The National Anti-Corruption Commission voted unanimously to clear former public health minister Sudarat Keyuraphan over allegations that she had abused her authority to cancel a computer bidding project.

The NACC found that Sudarat did not force the permanent secretary for Public Health to cancel the project so she was cleared of the allegations.
As public health minister in 2003, Sudarat wanted to scrap the Bt911million project, for which P Square had won the bidding.
Dr Wallop Thainua, then-permanent secretary of the Public Health Ministry, refused to endorse the cancellation, leading to conflicts. He was later moved to an inactive post in the PM’s Office and his successor, Dr Wichai Thiantaworn, endorsed the cancellation, prompting Wallop to file malfeasance charge with the NACC against Sudarat.
