Thai embassy on stand by to evacuate 2,000 Thais in Egypt
Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said Thursday that if necessary, the Thai embassy in Cairo would be prepared to evacuate Thai people living in Egypt.
He said there are about 2,000 Thais in that country and most of them are students, who are returning to Thailand during a school break.
Surapong advised the Thais to avoid areas of mass gatherings in order to reduce possible risks.
He added that there have been no reports any Thai has been harmed by Egypt’s unrest.
